The Indian representatives of Bowls
Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia & Rupa Rani defeated the team of New Zealand by 16-13 and headed towards the finals of the Game.
Bowls for Indians may be uncommon but the wish to secure more medals is all we wish for sure. Meanwhile, the ladies has raised the level of curiosity among all for the game. In Bowls, The aim of the game is to get your ball (black) as close as possible to the jack/kitty (the small white ball). The game takes place in an indoor bowls rink, which is 100m wide and 40m long. There are two teams, which can consist of solo players, pairs, threes or fours. The jack must roll at least 23 mts, and is moved to the centre of the rink once it has come to a standstill. In singles and pairs games, each player bowls four times per end; for teams of three, each player gets three bowls; teams of four get two bowls per end.
Although it may sound as a sport with less complexity, it's tricky to ensure the bowl stops near to the jack as bowls do not travel in a straight line. Indeed it's a game of tactics & teamwork.
Whether it's a gold, silver or bronze;
The women of India managed to get a medal in CWG 2022 in such an interesting but different sport and brought it to limelight for Indians itself is a victory.
